Three Great Websites For When You Need Cheering Up

Sometimes when we’re feeling blue, all we need is a little “mood interruption.”

Meaning that if your thoughts have gone to a weird place, the simple act of shaking things up and getting out of the pattern you’ve fallen into could help you get to a more hopeful place.

And of course, there are LOTS of ways one can do that – speedwalking around the block, dancing to your favorite song, or taking yourself out for an Italian soda to name a few – but if you’re short on time or space, these three fun websites below just might help.

Enjoy!

Garfield

Garfield – Without Garfield

Does anybody else out there have fond memories of reading Garfield comic book strips in the weekend’s paper growing up? I know I do.

Well, it turns out that there’s something even funnier than Garfield – and that’s Garfield with Garfield.

Dan Walsch is the genius responsible for assembling hundreds of Garfield comic book strips and – ahem – removing Garfield from them altogether. The result? From the site: “The existential angst of a certain young Mr. Jon Arbuckle. It is a journey deep into the mind of an isolated young everyman as he fights a losing battle against loneliness and depression in a quiet American suburb.”

Trust me, it’s funny.

Sounds

A Soft Murmur: Sounds to Calm

Sometimes simply sitting quietly and listening to a new soundtrack to the one you have around you is enough to disrupt your mood and get out of a funk. Enter “A Soft Murmur” – a website for just that. Choose from nature sounds like rain, thunder wind, or crickets, or opt for a coffee shop or Tibetan singing bowl. It’s really quite nice.
