Presentation Matters!

When I first began selling merch at my Janelle Haskell performances, the customer “experience” consisted of me digging a CD out of my bag whenever someone asked about them. And this is coming from someone who works in marketing! 😳

Fast forward to last weekend, when I received my first Janelle Haskell T-shirts and stickers in the mail, I decided my merch shop presentation needed an upgrade. So one vintage-looking suitcase and some handy work later, here’s what I came up with:

Now, as a customer, which might cause you to be more inclined to make a purchase? Having no product on display and having to ask to see it, or having a beautiful display such as the above available for your viewing and perusing pleasure? The answer is clear.

So today I ask you, what presentation are you offering your customers? Is it one that’s beautiful, charming, and inviting? Or one that’s a bit clunky at best? While you might not have a brick and mortar (or even a physical suitcase as it were), there are many other things that create this experience and presentation you’re creating for your customer, including:

Website | If you don’t have a brick-and-mortar location, your website is your business’s face to the world! Make sure it’s clean, clear, uncluttered, and makes for a dynamite customer experience. (If you need help, contact your local web designer extraordinaire – like me!)

Print Materials or Digital Worksheets | Whether you print your materials or use them digitally, make sure any assets designed for your business look on brand, professional, and are easy to understand and use.

Invoices | Every time your customer interacts with your brand, it matters, from first call to final invoice. Doing your research to make sure you’re using an invoicing system that makes for yet another seamless, beautiful presentation for your customers will pay off in the long run.
