Life Lessons From Cookie the Pug

Stephen King received 60 rejection letters before publishing his first short story.

Lady Gaga was dropped from her first record label.

Oprah Winfrey was told she was unfit for television news.

But today’s blog isn’t about any of those people.

It’s about Cookie the Pug.

Outwardly, there’s nothing overtly exceptional about Cookie (other than being a darn cute dog).

The thing that’s notable – exceptional even – about Cookie the Pug is that she loves agility training. That’s right, with those short-as-ever legs and that stout little body, she loves to do all the things agility training requires: running up and down planks, dashing left and right between poles, and everything in between.

Watch her go in this short 1-minute video:

So what’s the lesson here?

Stephen King loved to write and was determined to make it as a writer, even after 60+ rejection letters.

Lady Gaga, I’ve been told by a friend who is her saxophonist, holds a singular focus for making her visions realities – so it’s no wonder getting dropped from her first record label didn’t deter her in the slightest.

Oprah Winfrey has overcome numerous incredible obstacles to get where she is today.

Yes, being born into cushy circumstances can of course make things easier – but it’s not our circumstances that ultimately decide whether or not we succeed.

In the end, it’s all about desire, determination, and sheer will.

So if you want to be a pianist, don’t worry about your short stubby fingers.

If you want to be a basketball player, don’t worry about your lack of height.

If you want to be a business owner, don’t worry about your lack of organization.

Just remember Cookie the Pug. And go after whatever it is you love to do.
