These home office ideas for her will help you to create a workspace that keeps you motivated and inspired.
What your workspace looks like – and more importantly, feels like – is a lot more important than you might think, and especially if you’re a visual person like I am.
And the good news? It’s not hard to do! Below are five creative home office ideas for her that will help you to add a little pizzazz, bedazzle (too much?), and personality to your workspace so you can surround yourself with good vibes and creative juices all day long.
1) Find a desktop background that motivates you!
What do I look at more than just about anything else? As a web designer, my computer screen 🙂 If the same is true for you, don’t miss the opportunity to dress it up with inspiration. Desktop backgrounds are fun, easy to swap, and best of all free. This article from Lifehack “29 Inspirational Wallpapers for Your Desktop” is a great place to start, or a Google search for “inspirational desktop wallpapers” will give you oodles more.
2) Look for the light.
Where is the window in your office, and could your desk be any closer to it? If your window is behind you, it’s not doing you much good. Getting strategic about where you sit in relation to where the natural light is can do wonders for your mood. I recently changed my desk from facing the wall to facing the windows and it’s made a world of a difference. No windows? Consider one of these window scene posters – they have a bigger impact than you might think.
3) Be mindful of distractions, visual and otherwise.
Look around you. What distractions are around you? Piles of paper on your desk? The sound of the neighbors through the wall or the kids downstairs? A cluttered desktop? Whatever the distractions are for you, try to get creative about minimizing or eliminating them i.e. going through cluttered piles on your desk, getting a white noise machine (or playing instrumental music), and cleaning up desktop files.
4) Find the artwork you love.
One of my favorite things to do on the weekends is head down to my local thrift shops and flea markets to see what artwork I can find. All it requires is a little patience and a little faith – and rare gems can be found! Artwork adds beauty, color, and vibrancy to your space. It goes a long way.
5) Keep things fresh and changing.
The beauty of your workspace is that it’s YOURS and yours alone – so do with it what you want! Whenever I get a postcard that I love, see a page in a magazine that inspires me, take a photo that makes me smile, or anything else positive, you know what I do? Print or snip, and tape up on my wall. I’ve found that keeping what’s in my peripheral vision fresh and new keeps me energized and on my game.
