How to generate more leads from your website comes down to credibility, irresistibility, and most of all, walking the walk.
I’m so glad that you all have been enjoying my weekly posts for staying energized, productive, happy, and well during this highly unusual time in all of our lives, and I will certainly continue to send those nuggets your way. But this week, I thought it might be good to present you with some good old-fashioned customer-attracting wisdom, since finding customers is top of mind for so many of us right now. So without further ado, my gift to you: five things you can do right now to get more leads on your website.
Lead Generation in Wizardry Tip #1: Combine dynamite testimonials with photos of the people who said them.
I’m going to let you in on a little secret: a testimonial accompanied by a photo of the person who said it gives it double the impact because the person becomes real to your visitors. Edit your quotes down to just their most powerful sentence or two and ask your previous clients for a photo (in my experience, they always agree). Check out my testimonials on my website homepage for an example.
Lead Generation Wizardy Tip #2: Put a video of you talking on your homepage.
I know, I know. Filming ourselves and then pasting our giant faces on our homepage feels icky as can be. I get it. But the reality is that people hire you because they like you and trust you. And one of the easiest ways to achieve this likability and trust (short of meeting with prospects face-to-face) is to present yourself on video. What to talk about? For starters, tell your brand story: why you started your business in the first place, what your favorite thing is about the work you do, and your promise to your customers.
Lead Generation Wizardy Tip #3: Make an irresistible sign-up offer.
When people come to my website (who are actually in the market for a web designer) and they see my free mini-course Savvy Homepage Secrets, my hope is that they’ll think, “Ooooo that looks fun.” Opt-in freebies are one of the best ways you can spark and nurture relationships with site visitors who otherwise may have left your site and sadly never thought of you again. What’s something that qualified prospects (that is, those who are looking for your services) would find irresistibly helpful?
Lead Generation Wizardy Tip #4: Share share share.
If a tree falls in the forest and no one hears it, does it make a sound? If your website is out there in cyberspace, looking and being amazing, but no one is visiting it, is it doing you any good? Whatever the ways in which you can share links back to your website, do it (and shamelessly!). Whether it’s your latest blog post or landing pages for specific offers, share these however you can. On social media, in your weekly email newsletter, in your email signature – anywhere you can think of!
Lead Generation Wizardy Tip #5: Walk the walk.
It never ceases to astound me how many people hire me to create their new website simply because they love my website. But it makes sense. When we look around to find who can help us solve a problem, whether consciously or not, we often observe how providers have solved that problem for themselves. Whatever your arena, explore the ways in which you can lead by example and show your prospects how you can help them by simply living it yourself.
