Why do we so often wait for someone else to throw us a party when we accomplish something big?
Someone close to me, a Nurse Practitioner who, for the purposes of this blog, we’ll call Hannah, recently completed their Psych Certification, becoming a Psych NP. The process took about two years, and considering that Hannah is a full-time single mom who works and also suffers from intense chronic fatigue, completing this training was no easy task. It was a big deal.
So what did Hannah do when she finished?
SHE THREW HERSELF A PARTY 🥳
I’m writing this blog today because I’d like all of us to take a hint from Hannah. When you finish something that was a lot of hard work and you feel you deserve (and maybe need) to be celebrated, you can and should throw yourself a party.
It’s the best idea you’ve never had.
Let’s face it. Even the best of us can get so wrapped up in the craziness of life that we can sometimes forget to give praise where praise is very much due. When you choose to celebrate yourself and throw yourself a well-deserved party, you’re allowing all the people in your life to do something that will feel SO GOOD for them – to show you love.
So, way to go Hannah. Good work giving yourself what you deserve. I hope all my readers (and I) can learn a thing or two from your choice to celebrate yourself!
